android launchers
It's absolutely insane to me that there are so many "minimal" launchers that promise to reduce your phone usage and don't have the main blocker for actually doing it: hiding all the apps.
Close to every single launcher I've tried just removes the colourful square, and for some reason this is supposed to make me less inclined to open an app — because now it's white text on a black screen with minimal UI? But I'm literate. The moment my eyes go over the name "candy crush", it's just like having the icon there. I'll never understand this.
My favourite is CCLauncher. You open an app by typing its name, so you're never suggested anything — you have to actually recall the name of the application to open it. Nothing is ever put in front of me, so the apps I've half-forgotten just stop existing.
