Recently, I started using Alexander Joy’s two-sentence technique to write my daily logs. For the first time, I was able to not only keep the daily logging streak going, but also see more clearly the things that really matter across the days.

Just like Joy, I used to think I wanted a complete description of my day, but that is a delusion. Small details won’t matter much in the long run, and they make it harder to see the big picture built across longer time spans.

While writing this, I started thinking about how much this relates to my own blogging practice. Prioritizing the long-term accumulation of information is much more useful than focusing on the breadth of a single entry.
